The Institute for Quantitative Research in Finance®, also known as "The Q-Group,"® was founded in 1966 and incorporated in 2001. The purpose of the Institute is to help the investment community create and implement structured solutions to financial and investment problems. The Q-Group® endeavors to contribute to the development and understanding of new quantitative techniques to improve the operation of the global financial marketplace.
As a member of The Q-Group® a Sponsor:
- ...participates in the Institute's two seminars each year. At these meetings, presentations are made containing the latest quantitative and other pioneering techniques employed in financial analysis and investments. Seminar speakers compete for the "Roger F. Murray" cash prizes which are given for the most outstanding and innovative presentations made during the year.
- ...receives the results of research funded by the Institute. Each year, academics compete for Institute research funds. Research findings of particular interest to Sponsors are presented at Institute conferences.
- ...provides access to summaries of each seminar and copies of new funded research papers from The Q-Group and its sister organizations, INQUIRE – UK and INQUIRE – Europe.
THE SPONSORS
Currently, the Institute has over 140 sponsor members which include banks, insurance companies, securities firms, investment consultants, investment advisors, mutual fund managers, state and private pension fund managers, foundations and university endowment funds.
The CFA Institute is also a sponsor member of the Institute. As well, the Q-Group maintains a relationship with the Financial Analysts Journal.
Finally, the Institute exchanges funded research and seminar papers with its two sister organizations – INQUIRE-UK and INQUIRE-Europe, located in the United Kingdom and in continental Europe. The Q-Group® maintains an international committee to coordinate activities with these two Institutes.
